Used Mini Excavators

Buying new equipment to start up your business or to just add to your fleet of equipment can be a large cost to your organization. A piece of equipment that you purchased a few years ago that now needs to be replaced can be ten to twenty percent more than you paid for it a few years ago. With prices increases so fast a lot of people are looking to replace their wearing equipment with a used piece of equipment instead of a new piece of equipment. One very popular piece of equipment to purchase today is a Mini Excavator.

This machine is a smaller version of the large excavators you see on road construction and other large jobsites. These mini machines have always been popular in the European market but have really gained popularity in the past few years in North America. If you are looking for this size of excavator, you are in luck if you want to purchase a used machine because you will find many options on the market.

There are some things however that you will want to take notice of if you are thinking a used piece of equipment is the way to go. The first thing to think of is how many hours you will use this piece of equipment per year. Once you know this number, you will be able to determine what hour range your used excavator needs to be in in order for you to get adequate life out of the purchase. The rule of thumb is that the lower the hours on the machine the higher the price will be and the higher the hours on the machine, the lower the price will be. You will want to be very careful with the hours on the machine you purchase and usually you will be able to find a sweet spot that is just right for you and your business.

Remember as you are looking around at prices on these mini excavation machines that you take note of the configuration. For example, a used machine that has a completely enclosed cab will be more expensive than a machine that is a canopy. Also, the length of the stick will come into play in the cost of the equipment. It is good to be smart on a lot of these things before you start looking so you can make sure that your purchase is one you are still happy with a few months down the road.
